Criminal Defense Attorney in Charleston, SC
As a criminal defense attorney, I often meet my clients at their darkest moments. My job is to shine a light—on overlooked facts, on helpful resources, on legal rights—and help to lift that darkness. It is challenging work I feel privileged to do.
I became a lawyer after years of working in higher education, the technology sector, and the restaurant industry because everywhere I looked I saw gaps in our justice system. No matter where I worked—whether with honors students at USC, the most talented computer engineers in Silicon Valley, or the hardest-working dishwashers in Los Angeles—I saw people’s rights jeopardized by systems and power structures that all too often lose sight of the real people involved. And I knew I could help.

Providing creative solutions to difficult legal problems for Charleston area clients.
I have been representing my Lowcountry neighbors since 2007 in local, state, and federal courts, first as a county and federal public defender, then as an associate at the Savage Law Firm—and I have handled every kind of case from traffic tickets to drug possession to assault to murder.
In 2016, I formed the Blazer Law Firm with a mission to provide the highest level of legal representation to folks who need it most.
“I don’t take every case that comes in the door. If I am not the best lawyer for the job, or if the demands of my current clients would prevent me from giving a new case the attention it deserves, I don’t want it. Trust is vital in the relationship between attorney and client—and that starts at the very beginning.”
You are not
Everyone makes mistakes in life, but we are all so much more than the sum total of our bad choices or worst days.
Every case is unique. If you need an experienced trial lawyer who can take your case to a jury, I’m ready.
If your case calls out for a more creative solution like pretrial intervention, a drug court program, probation, counseling, or treatment, then you need a lawyer who will exhaust every possibility to present the best defense and help you get your life back on track for a better future. Let’s fix this.
